As a Cook at JAG Healthcare, you’ll prepare nutritious, delicious meals that help residents feel cared for and at home. Every dish you prepare plays an important role in supporting residents’ health, comfort, and overall well-being.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Prepare Nutritious Meals

Prepare and cook nutritious meals according to menus, recipes, and residents’ dietary needs.

Deliver Meals on Time

Ensure meals are prepared and delivered promptly so residents receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner on schedule.

Follow Dietary & Food Safety Standards

Prepare meals according to physician-ordered diets while complying with company, local, state, and federal food safety and food handling guidelines.

Maintain a Clean & Safe Kitchen

Keep kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas clean and sanitized while following food safety and infection prevention guidelines.

Support the Culinary Team

Work closely with the Registered Dietitian and fellow team members to ensure meals are prepared, served, and delivered efficiently while helping create a positive dining experience for every resident.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
  • Previous cooking, restaurant, or institutional food service experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices
  • Ability to prepare meals according to recipes and dietary guidelines
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and remain active throughout your shift
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Previous cooking or food service experience is preferred, but we welcome applicants with a passion for cooking and a willingness to learn. Training is provided to help you succeed in our healthcare environment.

Our cooks prepare a variety of nutritious, home-style meals while following physician-ordered diets and individual dietary requirements. Menus are carefully planned by a Registered Dietitian and are followed to ensure residents receive balanced, high-quality meals. From comfort food favorites like hamburgers and hot dogs to themed meals featuring flavors from around the world, every day offers something a little different.

While most of your time will be spent in the kitchen, you’ll play an important role in residents’ daily lives by preparing meals that support their health and well-being. Depending on the facility, you may also have opportunities to interact with residents during meal service.

Not typically. As a Dietary Aide, your primary responsibilities include assisting with meal preparation, serving meals, maintaining a clean kitchen and dining area, and supporting residents during mealtimes. Depending on the facility and your experience, you may assist with simple food preparation, but the majority of cooking is handled by our cooks.

Cooks typically work full-time or part-time first and second shifts, helping prepare meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Shift availability may vary by location.
