As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at JAG Healthcare, you’ll work alongside licensed Occupational Therapists to help residents improve the skills they need for everyday living. Whether recovering from surgery, illness, injury, or adapting to long-term conditions, you’ll help residents build strength, coordination, confidence, and independence through personalized therapy programs.

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current Occupational Therapy Assistant license/certification in the State of Ohio
- CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
- Previous experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care is preferred but not required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the therapy team
- Compassionate, patient, and resident-focused approach to care

Therapy may focus on dressing, bathing, grooming, eating, upper body strength, coordination, balance, fine motor skills, and adaptive techniques that promote independence.
Yes. Applicants must be graduates of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program and hold a current Ohio Occupational Therapy Assistant license.
You’ll work with residents recovering from surgery, illness, injury, stroke, orthopedic conditions, neurological disorders, and other medical conditions requiring occupational therapy. Many residents are participating in short-term rehabilitation, while others receive long-term skilled nursing care.
Yes, depending on the facility. Some JAG Healthcare locations care for residents living with dementia, memory loss, behavioral health needs, or cognitive impairments. Therapy interventions are individualized to each resident’s cognitive abilities, functional goals, and overall care plan while promoting safety, dignity, and independence.
While you’ll often provide one-on-one therapy sessions independently, you’ll work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team.
No. Occupational Therapists develop treatment plans, while COTAs implement those plans, monitor resident progress, and communicate updates and recommendations to the supervising therapist.
Yes. Accurate, timely documentation is an essential part of the role to ensure continuity of care, monitor resident progress, and meet regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
Schedules vary by facility and current staffing needs. Depending on the opening, full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities may be available.
